"What is Faith"

With this being our inaugural post in the “Faith” portion of our blog it is only fitting that we address faith. Faith, what is it? How is it defined and what does it mean? Well, Mr. Webster has a few different definitions, one being the belief and trust and loyalty to God. The definition that gets thrown around the world is a firm belief in something for which there is no proof. In Greek, the root word from which faith derives is the noun PISTIS, and 'believe', the verb is PISTUEO. Faith means- belief, assurance, firm conviction, faithfulness.

The book of Hebrews in chapter 11:1 states; Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Now faith to me; faith goes hand-in-hand with trust because faith is a choice to trust God. As that sinks in you must understand that our biggest shortcoming is our human nature and fearing the unknown or the unseen. But if you look at being a father and parent, we trust and have faith that we are doing our best in building cultures that will cultivate compassion and kindness to those with who we share this world. We do not know what tomorrow will bring, or if our kids will even grow to be the individuals we have envisioned them becoming. So, what do we do, we keep the faith and trust that what we are doing is right by our own convictions.
